Clary Sage
salvia sclarea
General Description This oil was extremely valued in the middle ages for its uncanny ability to heal all sorts of eye problems, and was thus given the title of "clarus" (meaning clear) which later translated into "Clary." It is not as popular as it once was, but still has a wide variety of uses, including the treatment of digestive problems, ulcers, kidney disease, menstrual and uterine issues, general inflammation and throat and respiratory infections.
It also acts as an aphrodisiac, and helps to uplift depressed spirits (which may be in part to its general pain-relieving properties).
How It's Made The oil is extracted via steam distillation of the leaves and the flowering tops of the plant.
Aroma: Fresh, nutty scent. Strength: Fairly Strong Properties
